Honey for Healthy Skin

Organic honey has many more usages than just as a supplement of sugar. Often honey is used as an ingredient for its distinctly sweet flavor, but it is so rich in nutrients that its uses can go beyond just diet. The best non-traditional usage of honey is as a beauty product in place of processed honey-based cosmetics, which have added dangerous chemicals and loses the nutritious properties of natural honey.

Honey has long been recognized for its healing properties and has been used to treat wounds and burns. Replenishing the skin to a healthy and soothing state, honey can be used as body/face wash, facial mask, body/hand/face lotion and hair shampoo/conditioner.

When you experience dry skin, honey with its conditioning and moistening properties, is the perfect solution. Simply rub some honey into dry patches of skin, like elbows or hands, and let it sink into the skin for 30 minutes. Then wash the honey off with lukewarm water and feel the immediate impact honey has on your skin – smooth and smelling great. For repairing the skin on the face, honey is best used as a facial treatment with a 1-2 teaspoons of milk. After mixing the two ingredients together, rub in circular motion onto the skin, avoiding contact with eyes. After 10 minutes, wash off the honey facial and dab the face with a soft towel to dry. Honey is rejuvenating for the skin and leaves it feeling fresh, smooth, and repaired.

For a full-body rejuvenation, prepare a honey bath that will leave all of your skin smooth. Add 2 tablespoons of honey to 1 cup of hot water and allow it to dissolve in the tub. The natural aromas of sweet nectar and the relaxing warm water will not only result in gentle and smooth skin, it will be rejuvenating and worthwhile. For hair conditioning, add a tablespoon of honey to shampoo, massage the scalp and rinse after 15 minutes. It adds smoothness and shine with a sweet natural smell to keep your hair and skin looking young.

Aside from smoothening the skin, honey is a gentle exfoliator when mixed with grounded nuts, chia seeds, or brown sugar. It will remove the dirt and oil on the face without completely drying the skin. This refreshingly clean face wash without any toxins, chemicals, or additives is a better natural cleanser than packaged scrubs found on the shelves.

To get the most of honey’s nutrients and beneficial properties, take the jar out of the kitchen. While eating honey is healthy for the body, it can also be used to supplement beauty products as an all-natural and organic treat for smooth and rejuvenated skin. Being healthy isn’t just about eating healthy; it’s about treating the body the way it deserves – without any harsh chemicals. Give it a healthy glow with honey’s nutrients unmatchable to any other beauty products.
